YW Video "We Believe" in November 2010

Anual Theme

A notice dated September 15, 2010, announced the 2011 Mutual theme: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things” (Article of Faith 1:13; italics added.

Leaders are encouraged to use the theme as a focus of "special cultural events and other dance, music, and drama activities." Leaders may also introduce the theme with a new DVD, Strength of Youth Media 2011: We Believe, which will be sent to units in November 2010. Additional resource material in support of the theme will be available in the New Era and Liahona magazines and on LDS.org at the beginning of 2011.

Priesthood and auxiliary leaders are invited to counsel together about the issues facing their youth and the teachings in Article of Faith 13 and determine how to use this theme and the tools of the Young Women program to strengthen youth.

Judge Not!

What wonderful General Relief Society Meeting!
I would like to share with you some highlights from Pres. Monson:

Judge Not!
"My dear sisters, each of you is unique...........
".....Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who worked among the poor in India most of her life, spoke this profound truth: “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” The Savior has admonished, “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” I ask:Can we love one another, as the Savior has commanded, if we judge each other? And I answer—with Mother Teresa—“No; we cannot.”

None of us is perfect," he said. "I know of no one who would profess to be so. And yet, for some reason, despite our own imperfections, we have a tendency to point out those of others. We make judgments concerning their actions or inactions."........

I love the analogy about "...Wash your window...". So, I had made a Pass-Along Card about it:

I Know the Scriptures Are True - Tips for Leaders

-
1998  (in Portuguese)

2011

Many of us know that the 2011 Outline for Sharing Time has the same name of the 1998: "I Know the Scriptures are True"

The monthly theme and scriptures are not the same, but  still has lots of ideas that we can use for the next year.

Also, in 2005, in Salt Lake City, we had a Workshop with the same title "I Know The Scriptures Are True". The article is an excellent resource to introduce the 2011 theme for Primary Leaders.

- Primary 2005 March Board Workshop References
It was divided in three parts to be focused on. Following those guidelines, we'll be able to teach our little children with more confidence.
1. I know (our own testimony)
2. I know the scriptures (help children know the scriptures)
3. I Know the scriptures are true (we and children - to gain testimony of what we are teaching is true)

2005 Primary General President Message - article
"Anchored in the Scriptures" / "Aferrada a las Escrituras" / "Ancoradas nas Escrituras"

- 1998 Monthly Sharing Time
In the Sugardoodle site, you can find all 1998 Sharing Time from the Friend Magazine (thanks Melanie, for your free love and kindness) - (linked here). or here  (from LDS.org)

The  full article "Primary 2005 March Board Workshop References" you can read here.

Copies of the "Program Book" are used mailed to Priesthood leaders in June before the year, and latter available through the online Church Distribution Center and your local distribution center.

For my followers who has difficult to access it, download here a copy of the message; send me an e-mail with your address, then I'll send by mail a copy of the 1998 Outline Sharing Time to you as I use to.

Barbara Bradshaw Smith, Relief Society general president from October 1974 to April 1984, passed away Monday night, Sept. 13.

A viewing for Sister Smith is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 19, from 6-8 p.m. in the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple St. in Salt Lake City. The funeral is scheduled for noon on Monday, Sept. 20, in the Ensign Second Ward building, 135 North “A” Street in Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held for an hour prior to the funeral. — Gerry Avant.

Primary November Sharing Time

Week 1 and 2 - Jesus Christ taught us how to serve others
I though was good to have a visual aid to teach the parable of the good Samaritan before ask kids to portray characters from it. I used "kids language" for better understanding - not exactly from the Bible. Enjoy it!

Celebrating Family

Me and him - him and me. Just two of us at home, the Rasmussen's Christ-Centered family. Jesus Christ is the sacred center of our marriage and family life through faith in Him and through prayer. With constant prayer, we find Christ, who will, by His Spirit help us draw close to one another, serve one another, comfort one another, and grow in faith together.
The joy that comes from the Lord can only come as a result of following Christ.
