The 2012 BYU Women's Conference had as theme: “And they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory" (1 Nephi 14:14)
"This section of the Book of Mormon records Nephi’s vision of our day and time. He saw that the Saints of the Church of the Lamb were located in all parts of the world though their numbers were few. And he also saw that their influence was great because they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God." (from the welcome message by Sister Sandra Rogers, Chair)
The conference, co-sponsored by the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in two days featured speakers covering a variety of topics along with activities such as service projects and instant choir. It was held on April 2012, 26-27.
It was wonderful hear about the new Relief Society Presidency on a more personal basis - experiences, testimonies and love they have of Relief Society.
Some of the subject they talked in an open discussion format:
- the duties of women in the church, and the vital role they play in the gospel
- gospel habits — prayer, scripture study, family home evening and temple attendance
- be strengthened through the atoning power of our Savior, Jesus Christ when we face experiences like unemployment, cancer, drug addiction, miscarriages, infertility, death, twins, divorce, adoptions, disability, financial loss, depression, alcohol addiction and pornography - all types things.
There were women registered and volunteers from almost every U.S. state, along with many from other countries.
The closing keynote speakers were Elder Neil L. Andersen and his wife, Sister Kathy Andersen.
The official transcript from all talks/classes will be available pretty soon and I'll let you know.
