"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the train accident in Spain. Among those injured was Elder Stephen Madison Ward, age 18, from Bountiful, Utah, serving in the Spain Madrid mission. Elder Ward was treated at a local hospital and has been released. Elder Ward completed 6 weeks of training in the Madrid Missionary Training Center this week and was en route to his first assignment."

Elder Josh Burton of Cardston, Alberta, Canada, was injured while performing service with other missionaries and some LDS members in the Cobán Stake on Saturday July 20, according to a statement posted by the stake.
While performing service, Elder Burton and six other people were struck by a truck that went down an embankment.

Friday night’s Pioneer Day concert of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square paid homage to perseverance, strength and triumph over adversity. Hip-hop violinist Lindsey Stirling and tenor Nathan Pacheco were guest artists.

Elder Adhemar Damiani, who served in the Second Quorum of the Seventy, died on June 16, 2013, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was 73.
Sustained at age 59 to the Second Quorum of the Seventy on April 3, 1999, Elder Damiani served in that capacity for six years until his release on Oct. 1, 2005
After being released on Oct. 1, 2005, from the Second Quorum of the Seventy, Elder Damiani served as president of the Campinas Brazil Temple from 2005-2007, where his wife, Sister Walkyria Bronze Damiani, served as temple matron.
A funeral was held June 17, in Brazil. Members of the Brazil Area Presidency — Elder Claudio R.M. Costa, Elder Jairo Mazzagardi and Elder Eduardo Gavarret — and their wives were in attendance.
