The USS Missouri Memorial Association is recognizing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its many hours of volunteer service performed by members and missionaries on the battleship at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. For the past 10 years, missionaries from the Church have provided service aboard the famous decommissioned United States Navy battleship known as the “Mighty Mo.” The association presented a plaque made out of the ship’s original teakwood deck toElder Daniel L. Johnson of the First Quorum of the Seventy on behalf of President Thomas S. Monsonin a ceremony aboard the ship on December 5, 2014.
The First Presidency invites Church members and their friends to participate in the First Presidency’s Christmas devotional broadcast on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. mountain standard time.
The program originating from the Conference Center will include Christmas messages by President Henry B. Eyring,First Counselor in the First Presidency; Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, ElderRichard J. Maynes of the Presidency of the Seventy, and Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, Young Women general president.
We are pleased to announce this new Church email newsletter that we will regularly publish and share with members throughout the world. This newsletter is part of our effort to find more effective ways to communicate with our growing global membership in order to share timely and valuable messages that can strengthen our love for Jesus Christ, for our families, and for those around us.
