LDS missionaries in some countries no longer required to purchase suit coats

The dress code for some missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has changed, according to a release on the Mormon Newsroom blog.
While missionaries are known around the world for their formal attire, the LDS Church recognizes that coats are unsuitable in certain climates.
"To reduce the financial burden on missionaries and their families, elders who are called to serve in missions identified by the church as having hot climates will no longer be required to purchase or wear suit coats,"according to the Mormon Newsroom blog.
Missionaries will be notified if they fall into this category when they receive their call. A list of areas that will be affected by this change can be found on the Mormon Newsroom blog.

2015 Seminar for New Mission Presidents: The Spirit will teach

During the seminar, held June 24 through June 28 at the Church’s Provo, Utah Missionary Training Center, 126 new mission presidents and their wives participated in large group interactive sessions led by members of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Instead of speaking to new mission presidents and their wives from the pulpit, as has been done in the past, members of the Quorum of the Twelve conducted interactive sessions. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and Elder D. Todd Christofferson led discussions on “Doing the Will of the Father” and on “Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement.” Elder Dallin H. Oaks and Elder Neil L. Andersen facilitated a conversation on “Repentance” and “Baptism and Receiving the Holy Ghost.” Elder M. Russell Ballard and Elder Quentin L. Cook shared insights on “Following the Spirit” and “The Restoration.” Elder Russell M. Nelson, chairman of the Missionary Executive Council, and Elder David A. Bednar, who serves on the executive council, summarized the learning pattern during the concluding interactive session of the seminar.
