A worldwide leadership training broadcast that will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, will provide instruction to improve real growth in the Church, strengthen families, and better establish priesthood quorums in their important responsibilities.

Members of the First Presidency, Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and auxiliary presidencies generally speak at these trainings.

General Authorities; Area Seventies; stake, mission, temple, and district presidencies; bishoprics; branch presidencies; and the presidents and counselors of all ward and stake auxiliaries are invited to attend.Additional information, including broadcast times, will be available at a later date from members of stake presidencies or bishoprics.

From January 20 to 29, 2012, Elder M. Russell Ballard and Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, along with Elder Jay E. Jensen of the Presidency of the Seventy, visited Church members in Brazil.The Brethren were accompanied by their wives, as well as by the Brazil Area Presidency—Elder Claudio R. M. Costa, Elder Carlos A. Godoy, and Elder Jairo Mazzagardi of the Seventy— and other Area Seventies.

In São Paulo, Elder Ballard challenged members to help an inactive friend to return to full activity.
In Sorocaba, Elder Jensen challenged all families in attendance to study the Family Guidebook the same way they study the scriptures.
In Campinas, Elder Andersen told members that the choices they must make are between good and evil.

"(He) urged the youth to stay away from pornography in all its forms, explaining that spiritual strength and power come from complete righteousness and virtue".

Elder Jensen in Recife:

"When a blind man was taken to Christ, He healed him,” Elder Jensen said. “The question should therefore be asked, ‘What healed the blind man?’ The answer is, ‘The touch of the Master’s hand.’ May we allow the Master to touch our lives.”

“Our choices are not between richness and poverty, or between fame and obscurity. Our choice is between good and evil.”

In addition to the above-mentioned cities, Church leaders also visited Manaus, where a temple is being constructed. The Brethren surveyed the granite exterior and the temple’s interior, including carved wood details, carpets, and ceilings.

Mormon Helping Hands Revitalizes State School in Macapá, Brazil

Approximately 50 Mormon Helping Hands volunteers—including members of the Church, their friends, and Latter-day Saint missionaries missionaries—mobilized on Saturday, January 21, 2012, to help clean, weed, and otherwise revitalize Ivone Maria Menezes, a state school in Macapá, Brazil.

The activity, coordinated by the school board and organized by the Macapá Brazil Amapá District’s public affairs director, Kleber Sainz, drew attention and coverage from several local media outlets.

In addition, the school’s director, Adelia Danin, was receptive to and assisted in the project. “We were delighted with the generous contribution [the Church] gave us,” she said. “We will always keep the memory of it with us.”

Cameo Valentine Pattern

Using your imagination—and the templates provided here—create old-fashioned, handmade valentines to present to the most special people in your life and why not the sisters you visit?

1. Using the templates, create stencils by photocopying the shapes onto card stock and cutting them out.

2. Cut varying sizes of ovals from contrasting papers, and layer them as shown, using a glue stick. Add a silhouette cut from paper to complete the valentine. A handwritten message can be placed on the reverse side.

3. Create an envelope for your valentine by tracing the provided template onto card stock. Cut out. Fold the four outer flaps inward, and secure with a glue stick.

I made a flipchart to help Primary leaders to teach that wonderful song, that can be used for 2012 Primary Sharing Time.Sister Van Ry already send me a sheet music, but I'm waiting her permit to post it here or link to where she'll instruct me. A finalidade da serie destes livros é dstacar a vida inspiradora de mulheres Santos dos Últimos Dias. Incluirão biografias de mulheres SUD nascidas entre 1775 e 1820.

As biografias foram apresentadas por um colaborador e editadas pelo Historiador do Departamento de História da Igreja, Elder Richard E. Turley.

Como por exemplo, as mulheres que são mencionadas no Volume 1, eram da primeira geração Santos dos Últimos Dias que experimentaram desafios característicos de seu dia, incluindo o abandono pela família ou amigos quando eles se filiaram a igreja, a perseguição apos a filiação, as dificuldades de pioneirismo e as constantes mudanças de um local para outro "

Cada capítulo inclui um esboço biográfico e experiências de vida de cada mulher. Algumas mulheres deixaram escritos poucos ou nenhum para trás, o que tornava difícil para citá-los.

Features kick off issues of the 2012 Friend magazine

Readers of the Friend magazine will notice new and exciting features designed to enhance scripture learning and provide music for young musicians. Other new features will cater to older children transitioning from Primary.

Jan Pinborough, managing editor of the Friend, said many of the upcoming features serve to help today’s children who “are being challenged in new ways.”

..."The revised pamphlet will contain the addition of current prophetic counsel in areas such as the wise use of technology, virtuous thoughts, dating, the importance of gender roles, and preparation for the future."...

The updated pamphlet will be available in hard copy in 2012.

I had selected "Daughters in My Kingdom" as our next Book Club reading book. It will be the opportunity to some non LDS women in the group to participate in spirited discussions and link our testimonies to this.

I made some "chapter tags" to have each member write down a question about before the meeting. There are many fascinating works of the book that make for excellent discussion.
This is the idea! Maybe you can use between your leaders, your VT partner or your teenager daughter....How wonderful things we all will discover together! Enjoy it!

This article introduces the new book Teachings of Presidents of the Church: George Albert Smith, which we will be using during 2nd and 3rd Sunday lessons for Relief Society and Melchizedek Priesthood next year.

The Church's goal is to get people excited about studying the life of this great prophet next year. Here is some additional information about this book:

• An online version of the book is currently available. You can also download the PDF or audio file of the book. The PDF is currently available in 28 languages, and audio files are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The audio files are also available on iTunes.

• Most units have already ordered copies of the book, which will be distributed to members free of charge. Printed copies of the book are also available for purchase through the online store.

• The ASL videos of the book are available for streaming online. You will also be able to purchase the DVDs of the ASL videos soon.

• The book is available through the Gospel Library mobile app in English, Spanish, Portuguese and German.
